RIDES Labels

To make RIDES labels:

  1. Click HERE to link to the label maker.
  2. Search the label maker site to find and select the correct library name. (See Tips below)
  3. It is highly recommended that you search by MeL Agency code for the most reliable results.
  4. Search for the correct library locations, either using the 'Search' box or scrolling the left 'Locations' column.
  5. Verify both the MeL Agency code and the library name.
  6. Highlight the library name. Double-click or use the arrow button to add the location to your list on the right.
  7. Under 'Format', choose to create either 'Plain Paper' for 2 labels on 8.5" x 11" paper or 'Labels' to print 6 per page.
  8. Click 'Print' to display the 'Confirm Labels and Quantity' page.
  9. If desired, change the 'Quantity' of labels to print for each location.
  10. If desired, select 'Dedicated' for single destination labels.
  11. Click on 'Print Labels'.
  12. Click 'OK' on the PDF pop-up.
  13. Verify and print your labels.
  14. To make more labels, close the PDF and click on the 'Back' button.
TIPS:
  • There is no log in or password necessary to access.
  • The date the label is printed will show on the label.
  • Searching tips:
    • Participating libraries appear with their MeL Agency Code, followed by the library name, and if applicable, the branch name.
    • It is highly recommended that you search by MeL Agency Code for the most reliable results.
    • Always verify two matching points - MeL Agency Code and the library name.
    • To return the 'Search' column to all of the listings, click on 'Clear'.
    • You may select as many locations as you like before clicking 'Print'.
    • You can remove a location from the Confirmation page by setting the count to 0.
    • If you are sending enough items to a single destination to fill a bag, tote, or box - select 'Dedicated' to indicate that it is going to a single institution and does not need to be sorted.
    • 'Format' select will default to what you chose during your last session.
  • Labels for libraries that are part of a central delivery hub or a branch will print the central delivery address rather than the library address.
  • 6 per page labels are formatted for Avery 6464 or Avery 5164 size.
  • Because of space constraints, some library systems with branches have been abbreviated on the label maker:
      • ZV012 AADL   Ann Arbor District Library
      • ZV194 CADL  Capital Area District Library
      • ZV122 GDL    Genesee District Library
      • ZV139 GRPL  Grand Rapids Public Library
      • ZV236 MADL  Muskegon Area District Library
      • ZV292 PLOS  Public Libraries of Saginaw
      • ZV273 SCCL  St Clair County Library
      • ZV330 TADL   Traverse Area District Library
      • ZA014 WSU    Wayne State University
      • ZY001 MCLS  Midwest Collaborative for Library Services
  • MeLCat requests should be sent to the "Pickup At" location indicated on the lower left-hand corner of the MeLCat paging slip.
  • If the book bands and paging slips are missing, try searching the RIDES Participating Libraries list for the MeL Agency Code. You may search that list by clicking on Control -> F [or go to Edit --> Find].  A search box will allow you to search by name, city, MeL Agency Code, etc.
  • If you use sticky labels, never place them directly on items belonging to another library. You may attach the label to the book band, or package the item.
  • Plain paper labels should be firmly attached to the item or package.
  • If you are sending enough items to a single destination to fill a bag, tote, or box - select “Dedicated” to indicate to the drivers and sorters that the bag, tote, or box is going to a single institution and does not need to be sorted.
