The 2009 MeL Users Group meeting had a great turnout--well over 200 people came to Lansing to get the latest and greatest news about the MeL project.

The day started with a welcome by State Librarian Nancy Robertson. Then Deb Biggs Thomas and Debbi Schaubman shared statistics about MeL and MeLCat.

Next up were 6 Pecha Kucha presentations. Pecha Kucha is a unique presentation style that originated in the world of architecture and design. Each speaker had 20 20-second slides to describe their topic, ranging from ArticleReach to LEAN processing. Nancy Robertson said, "I really enjoyed seeing this new presentation style. What a fun and creative way to hear about new topics and spark people's interest in learning more about them!"

An open discussion followed where Debbi Schaubman facilitated questions from the group at large. A wide ranging discussion covering everything from MeLCat loan periods to NCIP (the NISO Circulation Interchange Protocol) ensued.

Break out sessions after lunch allowed attendees to decide if they wanted to hear about MeLCat Workflow, MeLCat Reports, MeL Delivery, or Marketing MeL. A second session of break outs also included MeLCat statistics and MeL Databases.
